Lindsey reached Ireland by way of Scotland, one of the names carried into Ulster during the plantation and rooted there ever since. This premium heritage woven blanket honors the Lindsey family crest against the Irish National Tartan.
History & Heritage
The name is territorial before it is personal. Lindsey, the old northern division of Lincolnshire, gave its name to a family who followed the Normans north into Scotland and rose there as the Lindsays, Earls of Crawford. From Scotland the name crossed the short water into Antrim, Down, and Tyrone with the seventeenth-century settlers, and the spelling settled as Lindsey about as often as Lindsay. Both belong to the same stock, and a family tree will frequently show the two forms alternating between generations.
Woven Craftsmanship
The design is built into the weave, not laid on top of it. 100% premium cotton yarn carries the crest and the tartan through the full thickness of the cloth, finished with a traditional fringe.
