Linaker means flax field — and it is hard to think of a name that landed in a more fitting country. This premium heritage woven blanket honors the Linaker family crest against the Irish National Tartan.

History & Heritage

The name is medieval English and locational, taken from places called Linacre and built from the old words for flax and field. It appears in the Domesday Book of 1086, where a Cambridgeshire landholder is recorded as Godwin de Linacra, and it has been written since as Linaker, Linacre, Lineker, Linnecar and a dozen other ways. Flax growing was a pre-medieval industry centred on Lancashire and Cambridgeshire, so a family named for a flax field carried that trade in their name long after they had left it behind. Ireland, which built an entire economy on flax and linen, was a fitting place for the name to arrive. It remains one of the scarcest surnames in the Irish record.

Woven Craftsmanship

Fittingly for a name from a flax field, this is cloth made properly: crest and tartan woven through 100% premium cotton yarn rather than printed on, finished with a traditional fringe.
