Lester is a name that gave up on its own spelling — Leicester as written, Lester as spoken, and eventually Lester on the page as well. This premium heritage woven blanket honors the Lester family crest against the Irish National Tartan.
History & Heritage
The city in the English midlands gave its name to the families who had come from it, and the written form slowly surrendered to the way people actually said it. That shortening happened on both sides of the Irish Sea. Lester families are recorded across Ulster and Leinster from the early modern period, arriving with English settlement and staying. In Irish parish registers the two spellings often sit within the same family, and occasionally within the same page — worth knowing for anyone working backwards through the records and wondering whether they have found the right household.
Woven Craftsmanship
Made on a loom rather than under a press. 100% premium cotton yarn forms the crest and the tartan within the cloth itself, and the edges are finished with a traditional fringe.
