The Lecky name came into Ireland from Scotland, carried by families from the lands of Leckie in Stirlingshire and settled through Ulster and Carlow. This premium heritage woven blanket honors the Lecky family crest against the Irish National Tartan.
History & Heritage
Genealogists have been consistent on this point since the nineteenth century: the Leckys of Ireland are of Scottish extraction. The name is locational, taken from an estate in the parish of Gargunnock, and traced to the Gaelic leac — a flagstone, the place of the flat stones. Lecky families are recorded in Antrim and in Carlow, and the name became closely tied to the Presbyterian communities of Ulster. Its best-known bearer, the historian William Edward Hartpole Lecky, wrote the standard Victorian histories of Ireland and England.
Woven Craftsmanship
The crest and tartan are built into the cloth rather than printed onto it — every line of the design is a line of woven yarn, which is why the detail survives years of washing. Made from 100% premium cotton and finished with traditional fringed edges.
